Power Cleaner F8 is a high strength citric-acid based cleaner developed to remove sludge, debris and scale from heavily contaminated heating systems. Ideal for retrofit scenarios and boiler swap outs, when existing systems need to be thoroughly cleaned quickly; the power of this fast-acting pH neutral cleaner offers superior cleaning with less time on- site. A single concentrated bottle can be used to treat larger central heating systems up to 130 litres (16 single radiators) or 250m2 of underfloor heating. Power Cleaner F8 aids powerflushing and increases the effectiveness of manual and magnetic cleaning processes. This non-foaming formulation means less time on-site is spent to remove residual cleaner from the system. Its pH neutral formulation also means that no follow up neutraliser product is required. Compatible for use with all metals and materials , including aluminium, commonly used in heating systems.
One 500 ml bottle of Power Cleaner F8 is sufficient to clean a large domestic central heating system (130 litres) which covers 97% of UK domestic housing stock. Additional/repeat applications of Power Cleaner F8 maybe necessary for systems which have more than 130 litres or 16 radiators, or if systems are very heavily sludged.
First, drain and refill the entire system with mains water. For optimum results, the entire system, including drop feed radiators where fitted, should be completely drained. Preferably, full bore gate valves with hose connectors should be provided temporarily for this purpose. Motorised and thermostatically controlled valves must be set so that no part of the system is closed off during cleaning or rinsing. Discharges must be made to the foul drain and not to surface water drain. For open vented systems add Power Cleaner F8 via the header tank. For sealed systems add via a towel rail, a TF1 system filter or another suitable dosing point.
Power Cleaner F8 can also be used in conjunction with a powerflushing machine. In this case, please refer to the unit manufacturers instructions. Power Cleaner F8 should be circulated for a minimum of one hour at normal operating temperature. However, to remove hardened iron oxides and limescale, the cleaning time can be extended for up to one week under the normal heating cycle. If a radiator still has a cold spot after one hour, increase the flow through the radiator by closing the valves on the other radiators.
An additional or repeat dose of Power Cleaner F8 may be necessary in some cases. Drain and flush thoroughly, at least twice, until the water runs clear. When using Power Cleaner F8 with a powerflushing machine, use dynamic flushing with mains water until the water is clear. Refill the system adding Fernox Protector F1 (or Fernox Protector+ Filter Fluid for systems with an in-line system filter) for long term protection against corrosion and limescale. In single feed indirect cylinders, e.g.”Primatic”or similar, potable water chemicals must be used.
Power Cleaner F8 is supplied in 500 ml bottles. Keep out of reach of children. Do not mix with other chemicals. For further safety information, consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

Power Cleaner F8 can be dosed into the system up to a week before flushing. This high performance, strong cleaner is effective after one hour circulating under normal operating conditions.
Power Cleaner F8 is a concentrated formulation supplied in 500ml bottles, to reduce packaging waste. Just one bottle treats larger systems of 130 litres, 16 radiators or 250 sqm of underfloor systems and one dose is sufficient for cleaning the central heating systems of up to 97% of all UK homes (or larger heating systems).
Power Cleaner is phosphate, nitrate and nitrate-free and is developed to exceed all regulatory and legislative guidelines in regard to the environment impact of the formulation. It is compatible for use in mixed metal heating systems, including aluminium.
You will get a very good system clean with both products. However, if the system is especially dirty it is recommended to use the stronger Power Cleaner F8 which will have an increased dispersion effect, even at low temperatures.
Citrate action is a term used to describe the powerful chelating effect that the citrate ion has on metal ions. This strong binding effect means that corrosion debris is lifted and transported out of the system during a system clean.
